As a stainless steel water tank manufacturer in China, LVJIA makes tanks in SUS 304, 316 and 316L, from 150 L home and heat-pump tanks up to 200 m³ square tanks and larger sectional builds. Plate is cut, pressed and argon-arc welded in our Dezhou factory, and the smooth inner wall resists bacterial build-up, with no coating to wear off.

Our Workflow

From plate to finished tank in six controlled stages

Stainless steel water tank manufacturing at LVJIA follows the same six stages for every order, and each stage is checked before the next one starts.

01 Stage one

Enquiry & tank drawing

We turn your volume, shape, water use and site limits into a drawing, with grade, plate thickness and fittings for you to approve.

02 Stage two

Grade selection & cutting

SUS 304, 316 or 316L plate is chosen for the water and the site, then cut and weighed out for every panel and wall.

  • SUS 304
  • SUS 316L
  • Plate cutting

We use 316L where chlorides are high, such as coastal sites, and 304 for most drinking-water tanks.

Pressing & forming

Walls, bases and roofs are pressed and formed, and embossed domes or stiffening ribs hold the tank’s shape when full.

Inspection & testing

Welds, sizes, surface finish and fittings are checked on every tank. Every product is inspected before it’s packed.

Stainless tank FAQ

Stainless steel water tank questions, answered by the factory

The questions buyers ask us most often before a stainless steel water tank is quoted, answered with the figures our own inspection sheets use.

Ask our engineers
Should I specify SUS 304, 316 or 316L?

SUS 304 is the default for municipal and building water and suits the large majority of orders. SUS 316 adds molybdenum, which resists chloride pitting, so it is the grade to specify for coastal air, softened or chlorinated water and swimming-pool plant. SUS 316L is the low-carbon version and is preferred where a stainless steel water tank is welded in thick section, because it resists sensitisation at the weld. All three are food-grade. Send a water analysis with the enquiry and LVJIA will recommend the grade rather than let the price decide it.

Welded or bolted sectional construction?

Both are built here. An argon-arc welded stainless steel water tank is a single sealed shell with the smoothest internal surface and no gaskets to maintain, which suits process and food duties. A bolted sectional tank is assembled from pressed panels with sealed joints, which is the only practical option when the tank has to pass through a doorway and be built inside an existing plant room. The wetted material is identical; the choice is about access, maintenance and whether the vessel will ever be moved.

What capacities and plate thicknesses are available?

Standard production runs from 150 litres up to 200 m³, with larger sectional tanks built on request. Plate thickness is 1.5 to 4 mm (standard; up to 8 mm by design) and is set by tank height rather than volume, because it is the head that governs the hoop load: thin plate low down on a shallow tank, heavier plate where the water stands deep. A stainless steel water tank can be square, rectangular, horizontal or vertical, so tell us the footprint you have and the volume you need and the arrangement is drawn around them.

What working temperature can the tank handle?

A standard stainless steel water tank is rated 0 to 100 °C, which covers chilled buffers, ambient potable storage, fire reserves and domestic hot water. Polyurethane foam insulation with a stainless cladding is offered as an option where heat loss or condensation matters, and the insulation is applied at the factory rather than wrapped on site. For steam, pressurised or cryogenic duties the vessel leaves the water-tank range and is quoted separately against the applicable pressure-vessel code.

Is the tank food grade?

Yes. Every stainless steel water tank is built from food-grade SUS 304, 316 or 316L, and the standard internal finish is a 2B mill surface, which is smooth enough to resist biofilm and easy to swab clean. Weld seams are pickled and passivated to restore the chromium oxide layer rather than simply ground flat. Tanks carry CE certification for water tanks under ICR/VC/HS2506113, and each finished tank is filled and held at full head before packing, with 100 per cent of finished product inspected.

How should the tank be cleaned and maintained?

Very little is required, which is the point of specifying stainless. Drain and rinse annually, wipe the internal surface with a soft brush and a neutral or mildly chlorinated cleaner, then flush; never use hydrochloric acid or a carbon-steel wire brush, both of which will pit the surface or leave free iron on it. Check the vent screen and the manhole gasket at the same visit. Treated this way a stainless steel water tank comfortably outlasts the plant it was installed with.

How long does manufacturing and delivery take?

Production runs through six controlled stages — enquiry and drawing, plate cutting, forming, welding or punching, inspection and testing, then packing and delivery — in about 15 working days from drawing approval. A sectional stainless steel water tank ships flat-packed on pallets with its bolts, gaskets, ladders and fittings as one kit; a welded tank ships assembled and is crated to its own frame. LVJIA exports to China, the Middle East, Africa, North America and South-East Asia from the plant in Dezhou, Shandong.
