Stage 01 · Customer requirement
Tanks that ship to Europe and bolt up on site
The buyer came to our Alibaba store for GRP sectional water tanks that could travel to the Netherlands and be assembled on site without cutting, welding or modification. That is the brief a sectional tank exists to answer: the whole thing travels as flat panels and becomes a water tank at the destination.
What we needed back was the shape — the volume, the footprint available and the head. Nothing else starts until those three numbers are agreed in writing. The capacity and end use for this order are still being confirmed with the buyer before publication.
- Sectional SMC panels, bolted rather than welded
- Flat-pack shipping into the EU
- Site assembly with no hot work
- Volume, footprint and head agreed before anything is drawn
Stage 02 · Project challenge
Every panel has to line up, a continent away
A bolted tank is only as good as its hole positions. Panels pressed in Wucheng are bolted together by a crew we will never meet, on a site we have never seen, weeks later. If one hole pitch is out or one gasket is missing from the kit, the problem surfaces at the worst possible moment.
So the real risk is not the tank, it is the parcel. The drawing has to be unambiguous, the panel schedule has to match what is actually in the crate, and the fittings kit has to be complete down to the last bolt.
- Correct hole positions on every panel, first time
- A complete fittings kit, packed per tank rather than per batch
- Drawings clear enough to build from without a phone call
- One shipment — there is no second chance on freight
Stage 03 · Engineering approach
The approved drawing is the contract
Our engineers laid the water tank out against the buyer’s footprint and picked the panel modules that fit it — we press at 2×1, 1.5×1, 1×1, 1×0.5 and 0.5×0.5 m — then produced a panel schedule and a connection list. Panel thickness is stepped by water head, from the thinnest top course down to the heaviest panels at the base.
That drawing went back to the buyer for approval, and nothing was pressed until it came back approved. It is the single document the panels, the crate and the site build are all checked against afterwards.
- Layout drawn against the buyer’s own footprint
- Panel schedule and connection list issued with it
- Thickness stepped by water head, 6–22 mm
- Approved by the buyer before a single panel was pressed
Stage 04 · Manufacturing process
From SMC sheet to a punched, kitted panel
SMC sheet is weighed out, loaded into the mould and hot-pressed into a panel. The panel is trimmed and finished at the edge, then punched for bolting on our automatic and semi-automatic punching lines. The factory runs three production lines and twenty-five machines — hydraulic presses, laser cutting, automatic punching and a mechanical arm feeding the press.
Panels are then kitted rather than stacked. Each water tank’s panels, bolts, gaskets, sealant, ladder and fittings are packed together, so the crate that lands on site is one complete tank and not a share of a batch.
- SMC hot-press moulding
- Trimming and edge finishing
- Automatic and semi-automatic punching
- Kitted and crated per tank
Stage 05 · Quality requirements
Checked against the drawing, not against the last batch
Panel size and hole position are checked against the approved drawing rather than against a previous production run, and finished products are inspected before packing. The GRP/SMC tank carries its own drinking-water contact test report, SP2630502, run by the Dezhou Institute of Product Quality Standards and Metrology to GB/T 17219-2025: twenty of twenty items passed on 18 May 2026.
Behind that sit the management-system certificates — ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 — and the CE Verification of Conformity to EN 13280:2001, valid to 23 June 2030.
- Dimension and hole checks against the approved drawing
- Material records kept against the works order
- Final inspection before packing
- Test report and certificates supplied with the order
Stage 06 · Final solution
One crate, one tank, one bolt-up
What shipped was GRP sectional tanks in flat-packed crates, each packed with its own bolts, seals, sealant and fittings, routed out through Tianjin, our nearest port. Payment was by T/T, the standard terms on the store, and the minimum we will build to is 1 m³.
On site the crew builds the floor, raises the walls course by course, fits the roof and brings the bolts up to torque in a pattern rather than corner by corner. Nothing needed cutting, welding or modification.
- Bolted SMC sectional tanks
- Packed per tank with the full fittings kit
- Shipped through Tianjin
- Assembled on site with no hot work

Frequently asked questions
Water tank case studies: the questions buyers ask
These water tank case studies are drawn from real orders, so the questions below are the ones buyers actually send us after reading them, answered with the same numbers our engineers work to.
What do these water tank case studies actually show?
Each entry pairs the duty a buyer brought us with the water tank we built for it. You get the capacity, the material, the panel layout, the site constraint that shaped the design and the outcome after commissioning. Nothing is written from a brochure: every project on this page was pressed, inspected and packed at our own works in Wucheng County, Dezhou. If you want the manufacturing detail behind a given build, each case links through to the matching process page.
Which tank material appears most often in these projects?
GRP/SMC sectional tanks account for the largest share, because they ship flat, resist corrosion and bolt up inside plant rooms that a welded tank cannot reach. Steel appears where the duty demands it: stainless steel for potable and process water, hot-dip galvanized for large outdoor fire reserves, enameled steel for long-life municipal storage, and BDF where the store has to go below ground.
What capacities do the water tanks in these case studies cover?
The projects range from a few cubic metres up to several hundred. Across our full build envelope, GRP/SMC runs from 0.125 m3 to 5,000 m3, hot-dip galvanized from 1 m3 to 3,000 m3, BDF underground from 1 m3 to 1,000+ m3 and stainless steel from 150 litres to 200 m3 and above. Capacity is set by panel module rather than by a fixed catalogue size, so a water tank is built to the volume and footprint you actually have.
How are sectional water tanks shipped to an overseas project?
Flat. Panels, stiffeners, bolts and gaskets are kitted per tank and crated so one crate equals one water tank, which is what keeps a 592 m3 order inside a sensible number of containers. New orders can ship through Tianjin or Qingdao. Because the water tank is bolted rather than welded on site, no hot work or heavy lifting plant is needed at the far end, which is what made the European project in these case studies practical.
What was LVJIA first verified export order?
GRP sectional tanks for a buyer in the Netherlands, ordered through our Alibaba storefront, dispatched in August 2026 and rated 5.0 by the buyer who received it. It is the featured case at the top of this page and it is written up in full, including the drawing approval stage and the panel layout, because it is the clearest example of how an order runs end to end.
Do you have case studies for fire water storage?
Yes. Several projects here are fire reserves, including a 40-hectare logistics park and a hospital reserve that had to be assembled inside a 2.1 m plant room. Fire duty usually drives three things: a guaranteed stored volume, a corrosion allowance over the design life, and sign-off paperwork for the fire authority. Reference standards such as NFPA 22 govern water tanks for private fire protection in many markets.
Can I see the certificates behind these projects?
Yes, and with their numbers on them. Our certification register lists five GB/T 17219 drinking water contact test reports, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management certificates, a CE Verification of Conformity to EN 13280:2001 and an SGS supplier assessment. ISO 9001 is the quality management standard the factory is audited against.
How accurate does the foundation have to be?
Flatter than most people expect. We work to 3 mm over any 3 m of plinth. A sectional tank spreads its load through the base course, so a high spot forces a panel joint open and a low spot leaves a gasket under-compressed; both show up as a weep during the water test rather than as an obvious fault. Every case study on this page had its plinth layout issued with the approved drawing before panels were pressed.
Which industries do these water tank case studies cover?
Logistics, agriculture and irrigation, residential towers, food and beverage processing, mining camps, chemical plants, livestock, healthcare, brewing, retail and municipal village schemes. The spread matters more than the count: it is why the questions our engineers ask at enquiry stage are about duty, water chemistry and access rather than about a catalogue number.
How long does a project like these take?
The clock that matters starts at drawing approval, not at first enquiry. Once you approve the layout, the panels are pressed, punched, kitted and inspected against that drawing, then crated. The village scheme in these case studies covered twelve tanks in four containers over six weeks. A single tank is considerably quicker. Our engineering desk gives a first reply within 2 hours and you can send a drawing through technical support.
Can LVJIA build a water tank to match one of these case studies?
Yes. Every water tank here was made to order rather than picked off a shelf, so the nearest case is a starting point rather than a fixed product. Send the three numbers that decide the design: stored volume, the footprint you have, and the head or fill arrangement. You can see how the tanks are made on the factory tour, or download the datasheets and CAD files first.
How do I start a project like the ones on this page?
Send the capacity, the footprint and the water use in one message and our engineers lay the water tank out against your space and price it. There is no call centre in between: sales, engineering and quality all sit on the same site as the production lines, which is set out on the company structure page. Start at contact or email guan@lvjiatank.com.
Where can I see the actual water tank models used in these projects?
Every project here was built from one of our five standing ranges, and each range has its own catalogue of 13 models: GRP/FRP/SMC, stainless steel, hot-dip galvanized, enameled steel and BDF underground water tanks. The nearest model is a starting point rather than a fixed product, since each water tank is built to your volume and footprint. The full catalogue lists all 65 together.
