The GRP farm water tank from LVJIA is built on the GRP/FRP/SMC panel system at our own plant in Dezhou, Shandong. It is sized for a working farm: enough for a full irrigation set or a large livestock unit between refills.
A GRP farm water tank is a bolted sectional tank built from hot-press moulded SMC panels. Sheet moulding compound is a glass-reinforced polyester pressed at heat and pressure into a single stiff panel, so the finished wall is inert, light and dimensionally exact. Panels come in 3 × 1 m; 2 × 1 m; 1.5 × 1 m; 1 × 1 m; 1 × 0.5 m; 0.5 × 0.5 m, which is how the tank is fitted to an awkward plant room rather than the plant room to the tank. LVJIA builds it from 1 to 5000 m³.
Farm water is stored for weeks and drawn hard for hours, and it is usually a long way from the nearest contractor. An SMC tank answers all three: the moulded panel does not rust when the tank sits half empty through winter, the sealed lid keeps light out so nothing grows in it and blocks the emitters, and the whole thing is bolted together by hand with no crane, no welder and no power on site. Panels are light enough to be carried across a field by two people.
The wall is a moulded SMC panel — 8 mm on a shallow tank, thickening to 16 mm at full height, with no metal in contact with the water at all, so there is nothing to corrode, nothing to coat and nothing to earth. Panels are drawn together on an external flange with stainless bolts and a food-grade gasket, and internal tie rods brace the larger shells. Because a single panel weighs what one person can carry, the whole tank goes up a stairwell and through a standard doorway, which is why so many of these are retrofits into buildings that were never designed to hold a tank.
