The GRP fire water tank from LVJIA is built on the GRP/FRP/SMC panel system at our own plant in Dezhou, Shandong. Fire water is the hardest duty a tank has: it sits still for years, then has to deliver everything at once.
A GRP fire water tank is a bolted sectional tank built from hot-press moulded SMC panels. Sheet moulding compound is a glass-reinforced polyester pressed at heat and pressure into a single stiff panel, so the finished wall is inert, light and dimensionally exact. Panels come in 3 × 1 m; 2 × 1 m; 1.5 × 1 m; 1 × 1 m; 1 × 0.5 m; 0.5 × 0.5 m, which is how the tank is fitted to an awkward plant room rather than the plant room to the tank. LVJIA builds it from 1 to 5000 m³.
Standing water is what destroys fire tanks. A steel tank corrodes quietly at the waterline and drops scale into the suction, and the failure is only discovered during a test or an incident. An SMC panel has no metal in contact with the water at all, so there is nothing to rust, nothing to flake into the pump and no internal lining to inspect or renew. The reserve you commissioned is the reserve you still have ten years later, which is the whole point of the asset.
The wall is a moulded SMC panel — 8 mm on a shallow tank, thickening to 16 mm at full height, with no metal in contact with the water at all, so there is nothing to corrode, nothing to coat and nothing to earth. Panels are drawn together on an external flange with stainless bolts and a food-grade gasket, and internal tie rods brace the larger shells. Because a single panel weighs what one person can carry, the whole tank goes up a stairwell and through a standard doorway, which is why so many of these are retrofits into buildings that were never designed to hold a tank.
