About this category

Why GRP / FRP
panels

GRP, FRP and SMC are three names for the same thing: a glass-reinforced composite panel, hot-pressed in a steel die. An LVJIA SMC water tank is built from exactly those panels. An SMC water tank is the tank you specify when it has to get into a room it could never be carried into whole — light, rust-free and food-grade, it goes up a stairwell one panel at a time and comes apart the same way when the building changes.

  • GRP, FRP and SMC: one panel, three names
  • No rust, no leaks and a long service life
  • Easy to assemble, take apart and maintain by hand
  • 0.125 to 5,000 m³, up to 5 m high
  • Panels pass through a standard service door
  • Tested safe for drinking water on GB/T 17219-2025

Our process

How every tank is built, stage by stage

Four stages under one roof, from SMC sheet to a tested tank flat-packed on a pallet. The same route runs for every tank in this catalog — only the die and the panel size change. Nothing is subcontracted at any stage.

  • Molding SMC sheet hot-pressed into panels in steel dies.
  • Trimming & punching Edges trimmed and bolt holes punched to the drawing.
  • Inspection Thickness, flatness and hole position checked, batch by batch.
  • Testing & dispatch Trial-assembled, leak tested, documented and flat-packed.

Every stage happens in our own plant in Wucheng, Shandong.

Quality control & testing

Tested by an institute that does not work for us

Twenty drinking-water parameters, measured in the soak water of our SMC water tank by a CMA-accredited state institute. Every one qualified — and that inspection runs on every tank we build.

SMC water tank FAQ

SMC water tank questions, answered by the factory

The questions buyers ask before an SMC water tank is quoted, answered with the figures our own inspection sheets use.

Ask our engineers
How do I size an SMC water tank for my plant room?

Start with the room, not the tank. An SMC water tank is assembled from six pressed panel sizes — 3 × 1 m; 2 × 1 m; 1.5 × 1 m; 1 × 1 m; 1 × 0.5 m; 0.5 × 0.5 m — so the footprint can be squared off against walls, doorways and pipe runs instead of forcing a standard vessel into the space. Send the floor area, the headroom and the volume you need to hold and the panel schedule is drawn around all three.

What capacities does this catalog cover?

From 0.125 m³ to 5,000 m³ and up to 5 m high. Every SMC water tank on this page is built to order, so the same range covers a rooftop domestic store and a municipal fire reserve. Panel thickness runs from 6 mm to 22 mm and is set by the water height above each course, so the lower rows of a tall SMC water tank are thicker than the top.

Can the panels be carried into an existing building?

That is the main reason buyers choose one. A single panel goes up a stairwell, through a standard doorway and into a lift, so an SMC water tank can be built inside a room it could never be carried into whole — and taken apart the same way when the building changes. Nothing has to be welded on site; the panels bolt together with gaskets and non-toxic sealant.

Is the stored water safe to drink?

Yes. Twenty drinking-water parameters were measured in the soak water of our SMC water tank by a CMA-accredited state institute and all twenty qualified, issued as report SP2630502 dated 18 May 2026 against GB/T 17219-2025. The moulded face is smooth and non-porous, so there is nothing for biofilm to key into. Where a project calls for it, potable contact is also covered by NSF/ANSI 61.

Will it rust or need a lining?

No. An SMC water tank has no steel in contact with the water, so there is nothing to rust, nothing to coat and no lining that can fail and need replacing. That is what makes it the usual choice for rooftop and plant-room storage where access for maintenance is awkward, and for aggressive water where a coated steel tank would be on a repainting cycle.

What certifications does it carry?

Every SMC water tank ships against ISO 9001:2015, certificate 07624Q0960R3S-SD/001, with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 on file — ISO 9001 sets out what that standard covers. CE marking is held against EN 13280:2001 under ICR/VC/HS2506113, and LVJIA is an SGS verified supplier following assessment and an onsite check.

How is it inspected, packed and shipped?

Each SMC water tank is filled, hydrostatically leak tested and held before dispatch. Panel thickness and flatness are measured on every moulded batch, bolt-hole position is checked against the approved drawing and every SMC batch is logged to its material record. The tank then ships flat-packed for the container, kitted with its bolt sets and seals, from the LVJIA plant in Wucheng County, Dezhou, Shandong.
